About UcanMaP:
You Can Make Africa Proud (UcanMAP, Ghana Chapter) is a community based Non Profit Organization which provides structured transitional programs for Ghanaians abroad going back home, and gives grants & resources to business students from Ghanaian universities wanting to start innovative businesses. Our goal is to seek people who earnestly desire to see Africa flourish and take its rightful place in the world economy.
We envision a world in which Africa represents an astonishing new sanctuary of booming economies. Where the fuel for growth is an endless supply of talented Africans who are bursting with ingenious ideas, and who work hard to translate those ideas into successful enterprises that benefit all peoples.
Our efforts towards the realization of this vision are encapsulated in UcanMAP’s mission to provide support to individuals who seek to transform the economic and social landscape of Africa through entrepreneurial creativity.
To appreciate how important the work of UcanMAP is, one must first understand what is perhaps the most daunting challenge facing Africa today. Resources do not make a nation – People do! Unfortunately there is now a debilitating trend in Africa where hundreds of thousands of highly educated people, skilled professionals and artisans leave the continent in droves in search of a better life abroad. Migration by itself is not a bad thing because it can broaden the outlook of the migrant and enrich his or her life experiences. However, the rate at which it is occurring in Africa, the quality of the human resources that are migrating, and the fact that many migrants spend the most productive years of their life contributing to the development of foreign countries, with many returning in the twilight of their life to die with a whimper is sad, to say the least. Alas, this is not only Africa’s nightmare but its reality, and it must be stopped!
Another equally crippling problem is the fact that African youth do not tend to be entrepreneurial. To address these urgent problems UcanMAP has established two key programs namely the UcanMAP Network Program and the UcanMAP Capital Grant Program.
Ultimately, we hope to prove that ordinary people, spurred on by a noble cause, can achieve extraordinary things. Now that you appreciate how critical our work is, we strongly urge you to support our efforts in any or all of the following ways:
